The unique hover action that makes these mowers so manoeuvrable is created by a current of air pushing downwards so that they float just above ground. The grass is then cut by the rotary action of a spinning circular blade.

Light Push Lawnmowers

Typically lightweight to allow them to float more easily, this type of mower is the ideal choice for gardens with banks, slopes, driveways, and paths, or for longer grass, as it can be easily lifted up and over, before being lowered onto problem areas. As there is no friction to impede sideways movement, the mowing action tends to be a side to side swing rather than forwards in a straight line.
