Cultivators

Designed to plough the soil before planting, or to clear land, cultivators are typically push-along machines, with a rotating cultivator head at the base of a hand-held shaft, often with handlebars. Domestic models are designed to be relatively lightweight and compact, while professional machines have variable speeds and a reverse gear, easily controlled to suit different crop and soil types.

Professional Powered Plough

Most cultivators are petrol powered, although electric models are now emerging. Those designed for professional use come with chunky all-terrain tyres and variable working depths, making them suitable for activity on heavily compacted soils and heavy duty ground care. Additional attachments are available for some makes, turning the cultivator into a scarifier, weeder, or edging tool.
