Not enough bikers wear back protectors, although there's a growing stack of evidence to show they can greatly minimise the risk of serious back injury during an accident. About 13 per cent of bikers who sustain an accident-related injury suffer trauma to their back, and 1 in 125 suffer a fractured spine. Back protectors are designed for comfort as well as maximum impact protection.
