A planer is an established woodworking tool used to flatten and reduce the thickness of a piece of wood, and often used on pieces of wood before they're joined together. Cordless planers allow for easier manipulation than mains-powered planers, although their output torque is not quite as powerful. For this reason, cordless planers are best suited to light and medium duty work, or for jobs where a power supply is not readily available.
