In a percussion drill, the rotary movement of the drill is converted into a powerful percussion movement to penetrate tough materials such as concrete and stone, as well as wood. Most of the percussion drills we stock allow the motor to be switched to forward or reverse mode depending on the type of material being drilled. The rotation switch on a percussion drill can also be turned off for a plain hammer action used for chiselling.
Due to its unique hammer action, percussion drills can be difficult to control. To help steady the drill during operation, a secondary horizontal handle extends out towards the end of the drill, allowing greater precision and easier performance.
