Bench Drills

A heavy-duty bench drill is used extensively in the engineering workshop. It is fixed firmly to the worktop to provide great stability during operation, allowing holes of various sizes to be drilled in a range of materials including metal, wood, and plastic. Because it is so stable, the bench drill enables the user to drill large pieces of thick metal in total safety.

Bench Drill Accessories

Different sized drill bits are available - the standard range includes sizes between one millimetre and 14 millimetres. Forstner bits and hole saws can be used with the bench drill to bore larger diameter holes. Bench drills have a variable speed setting; this is particularly important when drilling large diameter holes as slower drilling is required to prevent scorching.
