Engineering workshops carry out a wide range of industrial functions and are usually quite specialised. Many carry out metal cutting, or manufacture metal components, requiring power tools and machines capable of precision whilst handling larger volumes of material.
Compared to the DIY machines available, engineering workshop machinery is larger, more powerful and more robust. Drilling operations are performed using heavy duty fixed bench drills, or pillar drills permanently fixed to the floor. Different types of metal saws are needed and a miller driller is a must for companies manufacturing metal components. Specialist lathes and metal shears are used for shaping and trimming.
