The 3.8 horsepower 50cc engine on the Makita DCS5001 kicks out 2,800 watts of blistering power and is fully emissions compliant. Electronic ignition contributes to the saws astonishing acceleration putting it at the leading edge of mid to high range saws.

A hardened aluminium crankcase is built to withstand formidable punishment and the twin-mass anti-vibration-system results in an extremely low vibration - ideal for long work without fatigue. The saw has an inertial chain break system that stops the chain immediately the finger guard is triggered. Standard equipment included with the DCS5001 is a universal wrench, bar and chain, protective chain cover, torx wrench, hex wrench, and a carburetta screwdriver.
