Welding or cutting using oxygen and acetylene produces hot sparks that can cause burns to the skin on impact and can blind within seconds. Adequate head and face protection, particularly on the eyes, is vital when using any type of welding or cutting equipment, whether in the home workshop or in an industrial setting. Leather gauntlets are ideal for hand protection during welding and plasma cutting operations. These are lightweight and easy to wear, providing enough 'feel' to be able to operate the welding equipment accurately. They can also protect against mechanical damage when using other tools.
