The grills of OUTDOOR CHEF are characterized by high quality workmanship and a very innovative product technology. High design standards and the well thought out funnel cooking system - the system was developed in Switzerland - make their barbecues a simple, healthy and comfortable cooking experience.
Available in black, blue or ruby finish the Ascona features a 22"/57cm diameter enamelled kettle bowl with hinged lid finished to the highest standards and guaranteed for a full 3 years. Fitted with an ergonomic steel handle with an FSC wood grip the lid can be opened and shut safely without the need for mitts. The lid is also fitted with a thermometer so you can be in full control of your cooking temperatures for perfect results.
Two separate round stainless steel gas burners are mounted centrally at the bottom of the cooking bowl and allow greater heat control and cooking at a lower heat. The burners are easily lit by a push button electronic ignition that is mounted next to the gas burner control knobs on a side mounted control panel. There are also some very useful cooking instructions printed onto the control panel advising you what funnel position and heat setting to use for certain foods.
The cooking bowl is mounted on a robust, epoxy coated tubular frame which is complemented by a small side shelf and larger lower shelf both made from FSC managed eucalyptus wood, most useful for storing your ingredients and condiments. 2 large wheels are fitted for easy movement around the garden. A 4 tool hanger is also provided.
The patented funnel system inside the kettle eliminates flare-ups and unpleasant smoke emissions. It unites incredible grilling versatility and precision with healthy and delicious cooking results.
Indirect Grilling and Baking
For indirect barbecuing and roasting, the upper funnel is placed inside the kettle with the large opening pointing upwards. The heat from the gas burner rises up along the sides of the kettle, distributing an even, indirect heat from all sides. With the lid on, there's no need to turn the food at all throughout the cooking process.
Direct Cooking and Roasting
For grilling at very high temperatures or with the cast-iron griddle, the upper funnel is placed in the kettle with the small opening at the top. This creates high, concentrated heat in the middle of the cooking grid or griddle. The kettle lid is not absolutely necessary for this method of cooking.
